Gareth Potts: The next one we're going to look at is positional play and
how to take the balls in a certain order, and which balls to
leave until last. This is just a typical clearance that I'm
going to explain, I'm going to talk about it, and which ball I
would take. From here, pop this one into the corner; stopping
the white roughly where the ball is. And we're going to take
this one into here and screw the white-back into the position
it's in now, which leaves me this one to pop into the middle;
top-forward, maybe 4 or 5 inches to line them up on this one
into the middle.
Screw-back again, maybe 4 or 5 inches they key is just to keep
the white under close control, so you're not going to run into
any traffic. Pop the ball into the middle, just drop it through
anywhere near the side-cushion. As you can see, we've got a bit
of a tricky situation here where the ball is tied up with the
red, so once we get the balls over here, we'd pop the one over
the pocket, leave the white anywhere within a hand print there,
and then pop the ball in the corner, move the red away from
black, leave it where the red is, which leaves you with an easy
black ball into the corner.
The first shot is the yellow into the corner. Just steady here,
hit it on the head. The next one, the yellow into the corner --
draw the white back to somewhere around here. This one into here
next, be careful that I don't screw back too far, so that I can
run down into this gap. This one into here, run the white
forward, roughly into this gap here, then this one next, then
this one here. You're obviously making sure that I leave this
one to the last, always -- to get under the black -- because the
black's the problem.
This is the key shot coming up. I need the white somewhere here.
So I can pop the ball into the corner, free the black, and
hopefully free the white from where it is. Now just leave the
soft cannon onto the red. I'm in an easy position on the black.
